Oct 29th

Today in class we talked about the play She Stoops to Conquer. We were slipt up into group to video tape something related to the play. My group planned to go around campus asking people what they look for in a partener. Just like kate from the play. We found that boys were more open to answering our questions. I wonder what other groups planned to do. My group took a different approach then must other groups did i think. We did not really make a movie more of a documentary. I notice that if you are more outgoing people respond to that. The more we talked to people the more likely they were to answer our question for us. That we work together as a group and came up with some great ideals. Next class i am looking forward to seeing what our video looks like and the outcomes of the other groups. I think it was really good to get out of the classroom and do something different. I am looking forward to see what the class thinks about my groups ideal was good. I really enjoyed class i thought it was fun and got me involed in class.

Have you ever spent time with an adult with a cognitive or developmental disability? if yes, describe and explain.
No i have not work with any adults with either cognitive or developmental disability.

This book was about a little boy who was giving a specail blanket from his grandfather and as he grew older and the blanket did. His grandfather we make something out of the material that was okay to us. At the end of the story you learn that you cant make something from nothing. As you look at the picture in the book it is a story in the a story. The is picture underth the words with mice who use the fabric that is cut off each time the grandfather makes something new. Week 8 post

What are the top three things when working with parents?

Before the movie

I feel that when talking to parnets you need to understand there backgrounds. What type of job they have and many other things. You also need to know how much involed they are in there childs school life. Also when talking to parents you should be perpared for any questions that they have about their child. Make sure that you know about their child parents want to hear the good thing about how the kid is doing in school. If feel that it is very imporant to make the parnet feel welcome in your class.

From the movie

During class we watched the video "School commiunaction: With Parent teacher confesses. After watching the movie I learned a lot more about meeting with parents. Have the childrens work so that you can so them how they are doing. The teacher in the video was talking about what thing to ask the parnet when you are meeting with them. Ask question about what is going on at home. Ask the parents if the student is doing there work if they are getting their work done in time. Talk to the parents about how the student act at home if the are well behaved. Also if the student is having problems at school this is your chance to talk to the parents and come up with plans that will help the student at school and home.Show progression. Show work from the start of the school year up to the meeting with the parent.

Week 6

After watching the video from class i would so my students this to so them that i was pushed to do thing that i was not so used to doing. That if you dont worry about what other think about you because you are all doing the same thing then it is easier. I feel that this class was very fun it kept me a wake the whole time. I think that student would like when things a change from the everyday normal schedual to having a guest come in and speak to them. I would use this in my class make a video of what we did. I like how we can look back on this class and see what we did.

Learn and Serve Three

At my third learn and serve i got there and Mrs. Johnson had me correct there homework for the night. It was about what words should be capitalized in book titles . Must students understood that the first word needed to be capitalized but did not realize that words that were important in the title should be capitalized as well. Then the students went to work on the comptures with there games called Fast Foward. There are a number of different games that work with the students to find matching sounds, what came first, and so on. I feel that these games help the student learn more because they could see what they are getting wrong and what they are getting right. The last thing i saw was the student work on math word problems. Mrs. Johnson dissucussed the differences between a word problem and a number problem. Mrs. Johnson should the students this website on the Smart Board which has many different word problems on it. Just before we left me and Mrs. Johnson talked about me teaching a lesson to the students. I am looking foward to teaching the student the lesson.

Learn and serve Two

At my second learn and serve, the student first did there morning work also called bell work. The student were giving the number 15 and had to figure out what addition problems would get them 15. I thought this was a great way for student to learn how to add. Next the Mrs. Johnson had the student work on money and how many pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters it would take to make 15. Some of the student struggle with this because they did not realize that you did not have to use every single coin. Next the student went to the computer room to work a different games that help the memory and sounds as well as math.
