Learn and Serve

On Tuesday was my first day at my learn and serve my placement is at Cataract Elementary in a 2nd grade class. When i first got there my teacher Mrs. Johnson introduce me to the class and told them that i will be coming in to help them. The classroom that i work in is a very nice classroom the student desk are in groups and there is a rug area where the can get out of there desk to set and learn. In my classroom there is a smartboard and this microphone thing that the teacher puts on to make her voice louder when there is important information for the students to hear. I am very excited to be in this class this year i can't to see what i will learn.

  1. WOw. Sounds great.
How many students are there? Are there students with hearing impairments? I wondered that because you wrote about the microphone. What do you notice about kids and the smartboard? Do they pay more attention? Who gets to use it? What does Mrs. Johnson think?

  2. I'm at Gaskill Prep (it's a Jr. High school). We also have the microphone system. Does Mrs. Johnson use the microphone? My L&S teacher does not. She says it is more of a distraction to her students. It sometimes causes an echo because the ceilings are so high.
